I have a question for you: do you have dreams for our church? I sure do.
God continues to awaken dreams of our future together that are encouraging, inspiring, and brimming with hope.
But some of my dreams are crazy.
- God using our church to transform Muncie to be a city of love and peace.
- God birthing 100 new church plants through our church.
- God raising up 1000 Lay Ministers that are formed and equipped to be missionaries and church planters in our city.
- God using our church to reach all 70,000 people in Muncie over the next 7 years.
On Pentecost Sunday 2018, I wrote down these dreams on a “Dream Napkin”. When I wrote them down they become real because my church family became aware of my crazy dreams. That was the day that you realized that I’m really crazy, right? But crazy dreams are written all over the Bible.
On Pentecost Sunday in Acts chapter 2, thousands of people were saved. Now that I think about, my dreams are not all that crazy compared to the book of Acts With the Holy Spirit, the impossible becomes possible. Pentecost is our reminder of this.
Paul (not me, but another crazy Paul) said this in Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
Immeasurably more than all we can imagine.
I can imagine a lot. I can imagine a bunch of people becoming Christians, many churches being planted, and a lot of people answering the call to become lay ministers. God can do immeasurably more. Much much much more.
When we dream we are pushed out of our comfort zone. We are stretched.
What are your dreams for our church? Are they crazy? If they aren’t God-sized dreams, ask God to push you, stretch you, expand your faith in such a way to see God do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
And write your dreams down.
Where should you write them down at? In the inner foyer of our church, there is a bulletin board that contains a bunch of dream napkins that were written down on Pentecost Sunday back in May.
On the table in front of the bulletin board, there are stacks of dream napkins for you to write down your dreams. After you write down your crazy dreams, staple your dream napkins to the bulletin board.
And if you are willing, send me a message with your dreams for our church. I would love to pray over these dreams. I have a feeling that God is going to make these dreams become a reality because He receives glory when the impossible happens.
This coming Sunday is Serve Muncie Sunday. It is a day when we take the next steps toward our city being changed. Join me as we serve together.

When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the impossible becomes possible.
